Vermont had one of the lowest rates of workplace violence related fatalities in the country in 2004, tying it for second with New Hampshire, according to a report released this week by the AFL-CIO.
Vermont had seven workplace deaths in 2004, which translates into 2.1 deaths per 100,000 workers, nearly half the national average of 4.1 deaths, the AFL-CIO said in its 15th annual report, “Death on the Job: The Toll of Neglect.”
Rhode Island had the lowest fatality rate at 1.3 per 100,000 workers while Wyoming had the highest at 15.5.
Nationwide, there were 5,703 workplace-related deaths in 2004, an increase of 128 deaths over the previous year.
