About Indoor Air Quality

It is all around us, and we breathe it every day to stay alive. But how fresh is the air that we take in?

While we know that air contains oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen, there may be other substances in it that we do not know about... such as dust, mites, spores, bacteria and hazardous fumes.

Air pollution is not just an outdoor problem.

Contaminated air inside a workplace can lead to major problems. Short-term effects can include irritation of the eyes, nose and throat... as well as headaches, dizziness and fatigue.

Long-term exposure to contaminants can cause Asthma and even Emphysema.

In fact, indoor Air Quality is enough of a concern that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have created an Indoor Air Quality Guide to help facilities deal with Air Quality issues.

As employees learn more about what causes indoor pollution, they can help to identify any problems with the quality of the air in their own work areas... as well as take the necessary steps to avoid and eliminate potential Air Quality hazards.
