August 10th, 2006 · No Comments

The state of Virginia has recently made changes in its mandatory labor law posting requirements. Here are highlights of some the changes

  • The mandatory notice no longer states that workers should bring their Social Security cards if they go to the local Employment Commission office to register for work and file a claim.
  • Unemployment insurance notice includes a new phone number for workers who have lost their jobs or have had their hours reduced and want to file a claim for unemployment benefits.
  • The Virginia Employment Commission’s revised workplace notice includes new language outlining procedures for filing unemployment benefits claims.
  • Under “If You Are Working Reduced Hours” wording has changed from “the first week you are unemployed” to “the first week your hours have been reduced.”
