Yuma Safety Council - Scaffolding Competent Person Workshop

    This training is intended for the designated competent persons/oversight responsibilities for supported scaffolding. Training course content will be accomplished in accordance with the Scaffold Training Institute (STI) three—day competent person training curriculum and will cover all aspects supported scaffolding. Training will include one day of on—site inspection of supported scaffolding. The course content meets the requirements for an OSHA Competent Person as set forth in its scaffolding standard, and also meets the requirements specified by the Scaffold Industry Association (SIA) Competent Person Professional Scaffolder’s Training.

Lead Safe Work Practices Training

    This course will be directed towards people who work in state and municipal agencies, community and social service organizations, home (or code) inspection companies and contractors.

Fall Protection Competent Person Workshop

    This eight-hour course is designed to help companies meet the OSHA requirements for a competent person on site to make decisions regarding fall protection for employees. Course topics include common fall hazards, hazard analysis, fall arrest systems, fall prevention, fall restraint, selection of proper anchorage points, proper use of guardrail systems, and OSHA standards. Qualified and experienced instructors conduct all courses.

Worksafe Activist Network General Meetings

    SoCalCOSH (Southern California Coalition for Occupational Safety & Health). SoCalCOSH is a coalition of local union, community group, health and legal activists working to organize, educate and advocate for safe workplaces. It sponsors training sessions on hazard recognition and control, researches potential health hazards and suggests control methods, provides assistance in drafting contract language on safety and health, organizes to demand strong enforcement of health and safety laws, publicizes safety and health problems to unorganized workers and the general public, and supports worker organizing for safe working conditions.
