Employer found guilty under workplace laws over worker’s death

A Launceston man has been found guilty of breaching the Workplace Safety Act after a contractor died while felling trees in the Styx Valley in October 2003.

Robin George Simons had pleaded not guilty in the Launceston Magistrates Court to failing as an employer to ensure a person is safe in a work place.

Glen Wilson, 27, died when he was hit by a falling branch while felling trees for Simons’ company T and H investments.
